Can we design footing using STAAD instead of STAAD- Foundation or SAFE?

Yes, we can design combined, isolated and raft foundation using STAAD-Pro. For that you need to model plate elements having the plan dimensions of footing. Assign plate elements an appropriate thickness. Apply all loads at the center of column.  Based on the local axis interpret result of STAAD in Mx and My direction. For shear check in footing you need to use SQX and SQY.  Foundation design using STAAD is simpler and easier if you don’t want to use STAAD-Pro or SAFE.

For any kind of footing do not forget to apply subgrade modulus and that can be applied using support in STAAD.

I hope your doubt is clear now
