What is PEB building? How can we design them using STAAD-Pro and its advantages?

PEB (Pre-Engineered Buildings) are very economical steel structures. Normally, in steel design we use the same steel section throughout the height or length of a particular member, while in pre-engineered buildings the members are utilized as per their analysis and the size is reduced. For instance if you design any steel shed with normal limit state, you will get around 5.5-6.5 kg/sqft, while if you design the same structure as PEB, you will get 4-4.5 kg/sq.ft. However, workmanship may become a challenge in PEB structures. They are designed using STAAD-Pro only and the section is selected based on bending moment. The design parameters are applied as per IS800:2007 only.
